Underground Media Network
Underground Media Network is an independent Australian investigative journalism platform committed to exposing institutional abuse, systemic failures, and the misuse of power.
Founded by journalist Landon Germanotta-Mills, the platform is survivor-led, trauma-informed, and legally aware — built by and for those impacted by the systems we investigate.
We prioritise stories often ignored or sidelined by mainstream media, including those deemed too risky, too complex, or too politically sensitive.
Our investigations are built on verified documentation, first-person testimony, expert consultation, and rigorous legal and ethical standards.
What We Report
We investigate issues in:
Police corruption and misconduct
Child protection and out-of-home care
Health, housing, and education systems
Government secrecy and administrative failure
Corporate misconduct and public interest harm
We centre survivors, whistleblowers, and community voices — especially where institutions have failed to act.
Our Principles
Editorial Independence
There is no corporate funding or political interference. Our work is shaped solely by public interest.Survivor-Centred Ethics
We do not sensationalise, retraumatise, or exploit. Lived experience is treated with dignity, not as a headline.Cultural Integrity
When reporting on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues, we work with care, consultation, and decolonising intent.Legal Accountability
We operate under Australian defamation, privacy, and contempt laws, which are supported by legal review where required.Digital Security
Source protection is foundational. We maintain encrypted communications and secure documentation systems.
Why It Matters
Mainstream media is increasingly shaped by commercial risk and political pressure. At Underground Media Network, we report without compromise.
Our investigations have:
Informed internal reviews and public scrutiny
Prompted resignations and institutional responses
Supported community-led campaigns and survivor advocacy
We publish when the story demands it, not when it’s convenient.
